Opening of garden of memories
The new garden of memories was opened by John Smith M.P. On 30 June 2007.

The weather was ideal for watering in all the new plants but not so kind for the many visitors, friends, residents and staff who came along.

In the company of Ann Gore, deputy matron and  Melissa Phillips, senior carer, the two members of staff who have designed and created the garden, John Smith formally opened the garden. He commented what a lovely idea the garden is and how he can associate with it as he remembered his mother who died last year.
To compliment this event a fair was held not in the open because of the weather but in the lounge. The stalls were awash with goodies from children’s toys, cakes, hand made jewellery and books. At one time  it seemed that no one would be able to move as everyone crowded into the room.
Eventually, a number of stalls were completely cleared and the raffle was able to take place.
The event not only provided and opportunity to renew old friendships but also raised £580 for the residents funds. It was this fund that enabled the garden to be created.
The collage of photos not only shows the opening but also the residents making use of the new facility.
