At College Fields Nursing Home at Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan everyone prides themselves in giving not only technically correct care but also creating an environment where residents truly feel at home and that they, as they do, matter.
It is not only residents who need comfort but often families as well. The reputation we have earned has been as a result of much hard work and staff showing how important it is to care properly and compassionately.
Residents enjoy their home comforts in a warm, spacious and delightful environment with lots of companionship. Relatives are confident that their loved ones are receiving tender, loving care given by highly trained professional nurses, 24 hours a day.
Visitors are welcome at any time both to see loved ones or to see whether it is the ideal place for themselves, their relatives or friends.

5* kitchen award by Food Standards Agency for College Fields.
The top award for food hygiene was given to College Fields following the inspection in February 2011. Many aspects of the work of the kitchen was looked at including general cleanliness, record keeping, good practice and compliance with preparation of food. The kitchen team are so proud and justifiably so as apparently there are only a few kitchens in the whole of the Vale that have achieved this level of excellence.
These are two very special photographs. On the left you will see one of our residents who has chosen not to join in any of the activities at the home since he arrived six months earlier. Why you may ask is he surrounded by
smurfs? The photograph on the right shows how they are all fascinated by over 50 nursery children who have come to see the amazing decorations throughout the home, put on by the members of staff for the benefit of
residents and visitors. Here we see the children of Ysgol St Curig who enjoyed all the different scenes around the home and even visiting Santa Claus in his own grotto.

The joy of the occasion was not only on the days of visiting schoolchildren but as shown in the photo below right in the preparations.
What a delightful afternoon for residents and staff when the students of the Beauty
Therapy Course came from Barry College to give a manicure to them.
The ladies not only had delightful fingers but smiles from cheek to cheek.

Long service awards were made by Katie Tempest the deputy chief inspector of CSSIW to members of the team at College fields who had achieved landmark terms of service.
10, 15 and even 20 year long service awards were made on the day and they received not only individual presentations but also commemorative badges showing their length of service and individualised with their names.
The day was graced by Katie Tempest who knew a number of the staff from a previous visit and Katie made some very kind comments about the care residents enjoyed. She also stayed on to join in with the concert that had been put on by the excellent professional musician Hank Edwards who entertained everyone with songs familiar to
