Autumn Fayre, September 20th 2008.
The sun shone, residents and guests arrived. Friends and staff made an amazing effort to ensure that everyone enjoyed their day.
The collage of photographs show just how much the residents and staff like to involve the community in the life of the home. This year Alan from ‘Owls4u’ brought along three of their rescued birds. It can be seen just how much residents enjoyed touching the birds and for most it was the first time in their lives to do so. Local schools and organisations may like to know that they can contact ‘Owls4u’ on 01446 745306 or 01446 749395. Our grateful thanks go to Alan and Anne who kindly brought the birds.
There were cakes, homemade jams and marmalades, books for every taste, guess the
name of the red bull dog, guess the weight of the cake. If you were not there when it was weighed at the end, it was 11 lb 3 oz!
Tattoos abounded for the young and young at heart, jewellery, children’s games, tom bola were all provided to entertain and when five minutes break was wanted the Vale in Bloom winning garden was there to be enjoyed.
With the fine weather not everyone was crowded into the lounge but able to stretch to the outside stalls in the brilliant sunshine. Not as crowded but the record money raised, over £720 will all be spent on ‘extras’ for residents and this year the majority will go on special Christmas decorations and more plants for the garden. School children from nearby schools will also benefit when they visit and see the Christmas event.
Sincere thanks to the dozens of people who helped make this day so successful.
