The Summer Fayre June 27th 2009
For the first time the entire fayre was able to be held outside in the gardens. The weather was that spectacular that every parasol and awning were needed to give shade!
Once again our family of residents, their friends and relatives combined with staff to give the residents in particular a day to remember.
Many new features were on show and many ‘old faithful’s ’ reappeared. As so often is the case Alan and Ann’s Owls were outstandingly popular. Like the Pets As Therapy dogs and cats that visit us the owls can prove excellent at relaxing and enabling certain residents who otherwise would find communication or movement impossible or very limited.
As ever the freshly made cakes were as popular as ever but this time the barbeques was new and with the awning and shade from trees nearby very popular.
The setting in the winning Vale in Bloom Garden, was ideal. The driveway was closed off and provided an ideal and easy surface for the many wheelchairs to get around.
The generosity of the participants raised about £800 to allow treats and improved facilities for residents. Thanks go to everyone who attended and either gave of their time or cash, or indeed both as many did. Our residents lives will be richer for the event.

This gives a flavour of the day. To the right are the owls and book stall, with the white awning over the cake stall and at the far end the barbeque. Much more was going on as will be seen below.
The burgers were more popular than the hot dogs at the barbeque
The water feature was popular with the children and the yellow duck attraction was well supported
