Christmas with the children from Ysgol St Curig

It was difficult to know  who was most excited about the visit, residents, children or staff of College Fields. Indeed the staff from the school enjoy it just as much. Certainly the children were spell bound by the events put on and the decorations.

In true Christmas spirit the ground floor was a scene from the Middle East 2000 years ago. Palm trees, sand and even a well made part of the decorations. Magically the children walked through to soak up the warm atmosphere of the area around Bethlehem, however, they also had an important job as three kings had accompanied them as they had heard that the children were going to help Gabriel deliver her special message. The children were able to find the shepherds on the hillside and tell them that a very special baby had been born. All of the group then walked to the manager to find baby Jesus asleep.

Following this they then climber the stair to a new world on middle floor. Here they were greeted by Cinderella and Buttons, the ugly sister and the wicked stepmother, the fairy godmother, Princess Fiona and Shrek, Tigger, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Snow White and the wicked Witch and Lightening MacQueen and driver. A Disney fantasy with real life characters.

Their next climb led them to top floor where they were greeted by the Smurfs. Papa Smurf, Nanna Smurf, Doc, Sleepy and even Smurfette. The children were also able to see some of the evil work that Gargamel had done and were able to report back to Father Christmas to ensure that the evil man did not get any presents this year!!!!

The visit was rounded off by meeting the great man himself and some of the children took great delight in explaining to Father Christmas what they had seen on their visit! As they had all been so good they were given a little present to remember their visit. The children returned to the lounge and gave an impromptu concert to the residents and staff that had come to see them.

Mrs Cross, the head of the nursery,  thanked all of the residents and staff for the wonderful visit and allowing both herself, her staff and her children to share in our little bit of magic. It was a lovely morning which allowed many generations to share the spirit of Christmas together.
