Wales Care Awards 2010 saw two members of College Fields receiving national awards. To have a single winner is a major achievement for any home but two is remarkable.

The home is very proud of the achievements of both Melissa and Rachel. Melissa was the bronze winner in the most hotly contested division of the entrants that of residential care practitioner. For anyone to be short-listed in this section is a major achievement but to receive a bronze award is wonderful.

Rachel’s achievement was also amazing as she won the Nurse of the Year Award for Wales. A gold winner and no real surprise for any of us who have seen her in action. She is a remarkable lady whose technical ability and natural communication skills are first class. A first class winner!
Rachel was interviewed by the trade magazine The Nursing Times and a copy of that interview can be read by following this link.

Congratulations go to both members of staff who should be proud of their major achievements.

Rachel Kemp is seen with her  gold award as Nurse of the Year. 2010. In 2007 she won the ‘Spirit of Care’ award

Melissa Phillips proudly holds her bronze prize in the Residential   Care Practitioner Award 2010

Not one but two national awards came to College Fields Nursing Home in 2010. Both the awards were major achievements by both members of the team, Melissa Phillips was in probably the most contested category and to achieve her bronze award speaks volumes for her. Rachel Kemp’s nurse of the year award was a reflection not only on her technical ability but also on her attitude towards the care of both residents, their families and the members of staff.
